With foster kid recently moved out, our lives have been going through an interesting little season of renewal. The weather’s let us spend more time outdoors, my husband’s teaching job prompted the creation of a new home office in our house, and we’ve piled on all kinds of activities to keep us busy.
Little Dart has been enjoying his fun in the sun, walkies, new clothes and toys from the holidays, and new cozy dog beds all over the house. With the transformation of kid’s room into a grown-up office, our futon mattress moved onto the floor and Dart is in L-O-V-E with his ability to snuggle up on his favorite bed. Those short little legs aren’t great for jumping on and off of furniture, so a futon on the floor it totally his type of thing.
On a whim in February I got us tickets to the Pro Bowl practice at our favorite baseball park in Summerlin. The very best part about it- they were all free tickets! The baseball diamond was transformed into a perfect football field, and we had the chance to watch both the AFC and NFC teams practice. I had no idea we’d get to see the Pro Bowl trophy too, but after a short wait in line it was the perfect photo opportunity. Now that we’re officially locals in Las Vegas, we were totally “freezing” in the shade at this game, and had to indulge in some California Pizza Kitchen afterward to warm up, yum!
Speaking of sports, it was about time that we went to our first Golden Knights game at T-Mobile Arena. Surprisingly, that is not one of the venues on the Strip that my husband has worked at yet (he can show you all around Allegiant Stadium, MGM, and more). I was super lucky to have access to buy tickets with a group at work, otherwise a Knights game can be pretty pricey. Inside the arena it was loud, full of energy, and heavy on Vegas style. It was neat to see all the traditions that have already sprung up around a team that is truly Vegas-born. Bonus, the Knights won in the last 5 seconds of the game, woohooo!
What other winter sports did I miss? Basketball? Someday we’ll get caught up with all there is to do and see in Vegas.
Happy adventuring ❤
